Are you looking for name brand baby clothes but have no money to spare?  Did you know that some supposedly gently used brand name baby clothes have been washed only once.  Only once!

Discount baby clothes are hard to find sometimes but so is getting rid of all the extra clothes you buy because they are "so cute".  It's easy to get carried away sometimes.  If you did not have to worry about money would you spare any expense on your childrens clothes?  Many people don't.  Baby shower gifts are included in this bunch.  How many times have people received gifts of complete outfits and when the baby was born it was too big to wear them?! These unworn designers outfits often find there way to discount stores at 60-90% of the original price.

Wholesale lots can be purchased to gain a general discount but carefull attention needs to be paid attention so the funky clothes are kept to a minimum.  Ask the sell if you have questions about a specific item, it may save you from receiving a bad item or get you a better discount on the price.  However, if they are already selling at a deeply reduced price you may want to write these items off and donate them to your local thrift shop.

If you know where to look, there are many places to buy and sell these clothes.  Used fashion and name brand baby clothes are often found but you need to look at the resale markets periodically.  The market is continually moving and the new trendy fashions push last years models to resale, consignment shops and online retailers.

Outlet stores

Discount baby clothing can also be found at special outlet stores, depending on the chain store.

Buying used baby clothes online is very important to me.  It allows me to save money while staying at home and watching my child.  All while my child is taking a nap.  That is if I'm not taking one also.

There are a bunch of online website that allow you to both post and buy clothes.  These range from online consignment shops, classified ads websites and auction websites.

Classified ad websites like craigslist are great if you have the time to go look at the clothes and pick them up yourself at the persons home.  However I feel like if I'm going to go out looking at clothes, then I would rather go to a mall or stores and look for special deals.

Auction websites like Ebay are great because you can browse hundreds of posted clothes and even buy in bulk if you want to.  It takes a couple minutes to see the latest clothes that are posted.  I'm taken the liberty of showing the lates Ebay listings on the right of this post.  Both for my sake and yours.  In fact I regularly go to this blog page and look at the latest used baby clothes listings because it is a lot quicker then searching directly through Ebay.

Cheap gently used baby clothes are not easy to find, but if you know where to look you can definitely find some deals and easily get 70 - 90% of the normal purchase price.  If you are buying from an online seller you may automatically think it is used but very often the outfit has only been worn one or twice and it is very common to get something with the tags still on it.  I've found EBay to be the best place to get cheap baby clothes.

Baby chain stores like Babys-R-plUSprices and GAPyougottabeKIDding are great for shopping for presents but you could go broke buying everyday baby clothes there.  You can talk to the cashier or info desk and ask when they are having specials.  There are also certain times of the year that the stores will markdown the baby clothes prices cheaper, like after the holidays and before school season.

Cheap baby clothes can also be found at Garage sales.  I get a list of sales from the classifieds and map the addresses on google the night before so I can visit as many as possible.  It is hit an miss though, as many have clothes that are either the wrong size or gender.  If you have enough storage room, get a couple sizes up for items like coats, boots and shoes.  I also shop for the coming year because there are no garage sales during the winter.

Thrift stores may also have a decent selection if you go to a "family" oriented one.  Though  you have better odds coming back with a cool 80's dress or leisure suit costume at some of the thrift stores.

Consignment stores are great if you are lucky enough to have one near you.  They offer an array of sizes and many cheap baby clothes can be found.  Grab a couple sizes up if they don't have a great selection.  If you find a consignment store that reduces prices depending on the date, then bring a pen and paper in to note the items and when they are reduced in price.  Don't be surprised when some of these items are gone when you come back though.

Ebay is the best place to buy in bulk.  "Lot" buys allow you to minimize your shopping (aks hassle) time and get the best bang for your buck.  Cheap baby cloth shopping doesn't need to take a lot of time.  If I buy a lot of 10 pants and shirts I usually like about 70% of them and use them for outings.  The rest I use for bedtime t-shirts and around-the-house wearing.
